Sleep test reminder

Please take with you to the sleep test:

  • identity document with a picture
  • medications that you are taking (the exact names and dosages of the medications)
  • comfortable night time clothing
  • personal toiletry

We shall offer you dinner and breakfast with coffee and tea.
In our sleep centre, the patient shall be prepared for the test by a sleep technologist who has been trained in general and sleep medicine. Patients under 18 years of age must come to the test with a parent. In case of a small child, the parent shall remain in the centre for the entire night. In case of a teenage patient, the parent shall leave after filling in the forms for the test and putting the child in the test room.

 

Preparations for a sleep test:

  • Please wash your hair on the sleep test day.
  • There should be no hair spray nor gel in the hair and hair in a tight hairdo needs to be released.
  • We ask that female patients to remove artificial nails and nail polish.
  • Please file your nails short, so the sleep technologist could attach the electrode on the nail plate.
  • For male patients, it is recommended to shave, so the sleep technologist would be able to attach electrodes near your jaw.
  • On the sleep test day, please take your usual medications prescribed by your doctor (general practitioner).
  • Please inform the sleep technologist of all the medications currently being used, as these could have an effect on the sleep test results.
  • Please inform the sleep technologist of any possible allergies.
  • Please turn off your mobile phone during the test!

Additional information:

  • A reminder text message shall be sent to your mobile phone one day before the test.
  • Your sleep test is cancelled if you have an acute illness (cough, rhinitis, fever, diarrhoea, or skin rash)
  • Please inform us if you are unable to come to the test, by calling 7401 755 (Tartu) or 6777 300 (Tallinn).
  • We ask that patients who are unable to make their sleep test time please to inform us at least 24 hours beforehand. Advance notice gives an opportunity to others and shortens waiting lists.
  • You can pay for the test with either a card or in cash.

Test results and treatment

The doctor shall inform you about the sleep test results during your return visit. The sleep centre administrator shall book you an appointment for this purpose. In addition to test results, the doctor shall introduce you to different treatment options.
